Meet Guimel Alves
Guimel Alves is a Brazilian musician recognised as one of the country’s most promising young artists, winner of the Citi Award presented by Cultura Artística. After completing his bachelor’s degree in São Paulo, he moved to London to pursue a master’s degree at the Royal Academy of Music, where he studied on a full scholarship supported by the Leverhulme Trust and worked with Chris Cowie (Royal Opera House), Ian Hardwick (London Philharmonic Orchestra), and Patrick Flanagan (Royal Philharmonic Orchestra).
Since graduating, Alves has been a Fellow with Sinfonia Smith Square (formerly Southbank Sinfonia). He maintains an active career in the UK, performing with leading ensembles including the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Academy of St Martin in the Fields, Manchester Camerata, London Sinfonietta, and the Nash Ensemble.
