Meet Arwyn Ivey

Arwyn Ivey is a double bassist recognized for her work across orchestral, operatic, chamber, and contemporary performance. An active freelance musician, she has appeared as Principal Bass with ensembles including the Northern London Symphony Orchestra, The Nonesuch Orchestra, and Surrey Opera, performing repertoire spanning symphonic concerts, opera productions, chamber collaborations, and contemporary music projects.

Originally from Florida, Ivey began her orchestral career in the United States before continuing her professional development in both the U.S. and the United Kingdom. She performs regularly with the RCM Symphony Orchestra and has served as Principal Bass for RCM Opera. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Performance from the Johns Hopkins Peabody Institute as a recipient of the Premiere Talent Award scholarship.

Ivey has performed internationally throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe, with appearances at renowned festivals and training programs including the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America, Tanglewood Music Festival, Orford Musique Academy, and Berlin Opera Academy. Her artistic work is defined by a strong commitment to collaborative performance, orchestral excellence, and the expressive versatility of the double bass within classical and contemporary music.
